The Vermont Foodbank offers resources and workshops to assist Network Partners (NPs) in serving the needs of their communities. Workshops are free for NPs unless otherwise noted (ServSafe). Registration is required for all workshops. To register, click on the date of the workshop or follow "Register here" links. Non-NPs may attend workshops, if space allows.
For classes that are offered as a webinar or online, you must have access to a phone line and a high speed (DSL or faster) internet connection. You will receive specific instructions on participating in the webinar several days before the course.
Cancellations: If you need to cancel your registration for a ServSafe workshop, you must notify the Vermont Foodbank 2 business days (48 hours) prior to the date of the class. With this prior notice, you can opt for a refund or a credit for use at a future training. Cancellations after this time will only be refunded if the slot at the training can be filled.
Substitutions: You may change the staff registered for the class if needed; please notify the Foodbank of any changes by 8 a.m. on the day of the class.

The Vermont Foodbank strives to offer those courses and trainings that are pertinent to the work of our Network Partners. If your organization has a topic of interest that would build your capacity or strengthen your ability to serve your customers, and if you have at least 5 staff, volunteers, board members, or community members who would participate, please contact Jen Messier at (802) 477-4124 or email@example.com to see if the Foodbank could create a workshop or training just right for you.
Online Food Shelf Food Safety Training
This online course covers all of the components of the Food Shelf Food Safety Training. Topics covered in depth will include: preventing cross contamination, good personal hygiene, controlling time and temperature, cleaning and sanitizing, among others. In addition there will be a special focus on handling food in a food shelf environment. Food shelf specific topics covered will include: What constitutes a safe dented can or crushed box of product? What do codes on products really mean? How long is food really good for? How can I keep the food in my food shelf safe? The online course includes a four-part training video (about 1.5 hours total), a Food Safety Training for Food Shelves information pamphlet and a ServSafe Food Handler Guide. Review of the training video is required prior to taking the online test. Participants successfully completing this course will fulfill their Vermont Foodbank Food Safety training requirement. This training is offered free, once per year to any Network Partner with an active Network Partner agreement and agency # from the Vermont Foodbank. Once you have registered for this course, you will have six months to complete the course. If you have not completed the course within six months of registration your organization may be charged for the cost of the training materials. For every additional Network Partner staff or volunteer who registers for the course, there will be a $7.50 fee. Requests for an exemption to this fee can be made to Joe Dauscher at email@example.com.

If you or your organization is not a Network Partner and you would like to take this training there is a $7.50 fee for each registration.

Vermont Foodbank Orientation and Online Ordering Workshop

New network partner agencies are required to attend a Foodbank Orientation. The orientations are also open to new staff, volunteers or board members of existing network partner agencies; folks just needing a refresher are most welcome to attend. The online ordering training covers the basics of placing your Foodbank orders and answers questions on allocated orders, scheduler, submitting cart, and editing orders. You may attend just the online ordering portion if you like. Orientation starts at 9:30 a.m., online ordering at 11:30 a.m.
Please note: Orientations at the Brattleboro Regional Distribution Center are held as needed; invitations will be sent via email to network partners.
Regional Network Meetings
Regional Network Meetings bring Network Partners and Foodbank staff together to share best practices, discuss challenges and explore ways that we can support each other to have the greatest impact in our communities. We encourage staff, volunteers and board members to attend a regional meeting that is convenient to either your location or your schedule. Please feel free to bring a bag lunch if you’d like.
